Work: Approach to Ma + Wabisabi

Reflection:
This project was initially the approach to the 3 concepts, minimalism, Ma and Wabi-Sabi. This was not quite successful as the approach is minimum due to the broadness of the concept.
Therefore, changes were made to this project which:
The concept of minimalism is scraped. And focus on ma and Wabi-sabi, and something was realised, in order to have the audience feel wabi-sabi and Ma, the visual cannot be complex yet not too plain. Therefore the texture of the night background is made more realistic and made an emission map to have the stars shine. And made the material of the window more reflective to create a beautiful visual.
Animation for the lamp was added to have it flickering to represent the unstable electricity, thus implying the lamp is old which fits the term of wabi-sabi.
The term Wabi-sabi represents imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete, also the kanji “Sabi” means loneliness. And by personal experience, the time when people will feel that is normally at quiet midnight. Therefore the project is made with all lights out.
In conclusion, this project is a retake of approaching Wabi-Sabi and Ma, by using ma to emphasise the general mood of wabi-sabi.
